Remember that your intern year is a steep learning curve. It’s normal not to know the answers to everything, but don’t be afraid to ask for help! Lean on your seniors, nurses, and attendings when you need it. They want you to succeed, and they will support you!

Rounds are weekly meetings in which the hematology inpatient team discusses all new admissions from the night shift with residents, PGY-1s, and inpatient hospitalists. The hematology team also includes nurse practitioners and advanced practice providers (APPs) from other specialties, providing a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Intern year can be a difficult time for many residents and fellows, but remember, it’s all part of the process of becoming a hematologist. Be patient, and take advantage of all the opportunities to learn about this beautiful disease. You belong here, just like the generations of interns before you.
